Saturday 13 September 2025; Kinning Park Complex, Glasgow
Registration for this year’s conference is now open! Women’s History Scotland are delighted to announce our one-day conference taking place on Saturday 13 September 2025 at the Kinning Park Complex in Glasgow. This is our first in person conference since 2019, and we look forward to meeting together and sharing our research and passion for women’s and gender history. To register, please click here.
The Sue Innes Memorial Lecture will be given at the conference by Dr Valerie Wright.
This year’s conference explores a wide spectrum of approaches, methods, and themes that are currently shaping the field of women’s and gender history. Our intentionally broad theme reflects the diversity of topics and periods attracting significant scholarly interest, from trans and non-binary histories to the history of men and masculinities, queer history, and the history of sexuality. The conference welcomes perspectives from across disciplines and career stages, both within and beyond academia.
Particular attention will be given to research on Scotland and Scottish themes, situating these within wider debates in the field. By bringing together work from such varied vantage points, the conference aims to foster dialogue, showcase dynamic new research, and highlight the particularly trenchant and productive lines of enquiry that are shaping women’s and gender history in Scotland today.
