Conference Bursaries 2026

WHN Conference Bursaries 2026

We are offering a limited number of bursaries to support postgraduates, early career scholars, those not affiliated to a university (therefore not eligible for university funding towards academic conferences) and those with extenuating circumstances.

To be eligible for a bursary, you must:

  • Be a WHN member. If you are not, you can become one here
  • Have submitted a proposal and look to be presenting at WHN’s 2026 conference.

You must also meet one of the follow criteria:

  • Be registered for a postgraduate degree or be within three years of completion of a PhD and without institutional support (or have limited support covering part of the conference, but not all).
  • Not be affiliated to an institution, so unable to receive institutional support.
  • Have extenuating circumstances and need additional financial support

Each bursary application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. All bursaries will cover the full cost of conference registration and applications will also be considered for other conference related costs. These include:

*    Travel under £150 (or, if international, a contribution towards travel costs. This will not exceed £150).

*    An allowance of  £60/£70 for one night’s local accommodation in London.  We are unable to arrange this ourselves.

To be considered for a bursary please complete the application form before the deadline of noon on 30 April 2026. The applications will be judged by the WHN conference committee. All applicants will be notified of the decision by Monday 1 June 2026

The ‘rationale of application’ should outline the basis for the application in no more than 500 words. Please include estimated costs in your application for it to be considered.

Please contact whnconference2026@gmail.com if you have any questions.
