The Camera is Ours:

Britain’s Women Documentary Makers

BFI Southbank, March 2022

The Jill Craigie Project is delighted to be part of this season of screenings and events at BFI Southbank. Curated by Ros Cranston, it includes new digital restorations of films by early women documentary makers from the BFI National Archive including Muriel Box, Budge Cooper, Jill Craigie, Sarah Erulkar, Mary Field, Ruby and Marion Grierson and Margaret Thomson, alongside work by contemporary directors.

Our film, Independent Miss Craigie, will be screened with a discussion as part of the study day on 5 March. The exhibition, Jill Craigie: Film Pioneer, opens in the Mezzanine Gallery at BFI Southbank (above Box Office, opens 28 February for approximately a couple of months). The latter are supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and The University of Sussex.
