March is Women’s History Month and the Schools’ Prize provides a fantastic opportunity for students to become immersed in ‘doing’ history.
Submissions can be made by an individual, a pair or a group of students from the same school.
This year we would like students to create a poster which illustrates one of two themes:
- Extraordinary women working for today and tomorrow.
- Heroines who have made an impact locally, nationally or internationally in the past or the present.
The poster, can be created in any medium or style (painting, drawing, CGI, collage, etc) but should be suitable to be used as part of Women’s History Network Calendar.
The deadline for submission is 30th June, 2021. Entries will be judged by the Steering Committee and the winning and highly commended designs used for WHN calendar and / or merchandise.
The posters will also be used to create an online Schools Prize exhibition on the WHN website – to see last year’s exhibition go to https://womenshistorynetwork.org/whn-schools-history-prize-2020/
The winner will receive £250 for their school, a certificate and copies of the calendar and previous WHN School’s Prize merchandise – mugs, tea towel etc.
To enter : please send your poster as a jpg image, a completed version of Schools History Prize entry 2 (as a Word document ) and a jpg image of the student (or students) holding the poster, to prizesandawards@womenshistorynetwork.org by 30 June 2021.
To give you a bit of inspiration we have some of the heroines that women nominated during Women’ History Month in March.
