Friends of The Women’s Library Talks Programme

Wednesday Oct. 7, 2.30 pm, at LSE Library, Professor Susan Pedersen will be speaking on her most recent book, Burn This Letter: Love and Trouble in a Marriage of Four (2026), using four decades of letters between two aristocratic Balfour wives to track the changing relationship between marriage and politics from the late Victorian to the interwar years.

We will not be in our usual Room 01 on 7 October. Instead Professor Pedersen’s talk will take place in PhD academy, 4th floor of the Library, which is accessed from the ground floor – take the door on the left just after the toilets – and the lift to the 4th floor. A staff member will be posted on the door to let attendees through. Our other two meetings this term will be in Room 01.
